but I just inferred that she would want to.

So sorry, for my lack of consistency and general absence on the blog lately. Things are busy when you're trying to open Stillwater Oklahoma's most luxurious blow dry bar ;) Seriously though, it's a lot of work but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I will post pics of the interior once we're all set. I'm hoping for a soft opening in a few weeks. Thank you all so much for your support and words of encouragement over the past months. And I am still pretty active on Instagram + Twitter, so you can keep up with my shenanigans over there. 

The Blo Bar has been all-consuming lately, so I don't really have much else exciting to report. I have been obsessed with YouTube videos right before bed--everything from beauty reviews to organization tips. Been on a bit of an organization kick actually and trying to reset since the year is officially half way over [#crazy] 

I recently discovered Scandal on Netflix. Finished Season 1 in one night and now I can't find Season 2 anywhere. Help! Oh, and my cousin is getting married in the Dominican Republic in a few weeks, but I had to cancel my trip because of our upcoming opening. I was sad but also excited that we're finally almost ready. So those of you who are going on tropical beach vacations, please enjoy a little sun & sand for me too! The weather has been lovely here lately (you know, when there aren't tornadoes) so I can actually wear cute outfits. But another confession: I am dreading the actual hot summer temps. I have no idea what to wear.

And I'm off to NYC today! This is such a welcome little escape for me. It was totally last minute and everything has fallen into place perfectly. I've been a bit (extra) stressed with opening The Blo Bar and a million other random things. So this trip is perfect timing. I'll be spending Friday night with my fabulous cousin who lives/works/plays in Manhattan, then Saturday I'll be at Pepperologie (!) and then spending a couple days just outside the city in Poughkeepsie with my aunt, uncle and cousins! Be back in Oklahoma Tuesday, ready to share what I learned at Pepperologie. Did I mention how excited I am? ;) Hope y'all have a lovely weekend, full of all the things that make you happy! x

This has been such a crazy hectic and actually really stressful week! I found out that someone stole my identity! It's a little unbelievable, I've heard stories but never really thought it could happen to me. Fortunately, it was remedied rather quickly (I have good people!) but it was a big scare. Now, I just want to lay lie like these ladies all weekend. Although I don't have any beach/warm water plans in my near future, I am going to NYC for a little weekend getaway in 2 weeks. So I'm looking forward to that. Oh and my best friend's baby shower is tomorrow. I am super excited! And I have a business/coffee/friend date Sunday. Hope you have a fabulous weekend friends! x

It's been a crazy week. Between spending my days with 6th graders (which I love) and my afternoons engaged in something that revolves around The Blo Bar, I haven't had much time for anything else. I was presented with an incredible opportunity this week, I'm over the moon! I'm excited to share the detail soon, don't worry it's not another major commitment...my plate is already full of those. But it's pretty cool, I must say. I also had some pretty fabulous creative meetings this week. After living in Chicago and abroad, it's been difficult to be back in my little hometown--although I do love it, there's also not a lot of creative/entrepreneurial people who are my age (or at all really) So I feel blessed to have connected with some amazing women this week! And last but not least, I interviewed about 10 stylists for The Blo Bar. I tweeted this earlier in the week, but seriously sometimes I feel like my life is a TV show. I find myself in the most amusing situations. Wouldn't trade it for the world ;)

I was fortunate enough to do a lot of traveling growing up, but surprisingly I've never been to Montreal. So thrilled to explore this beautiful city. Have you been to Montreal? Is it too early to be dreaming of wearing this outfit? I know it's just barely August, but September cannot get here fast enough! What a great week it's been. Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but I'm styling a fashion show next week so most of my time has been spent getting ready for that and my little holiday. Lots of prep going on! I did trials with the models this week...so fun!

I had the most exciting meeting yesterday! So happy that work is going well (although I'm a bit exhausted, but who isn't right?) Also, putting together a {mullings & musings} post for next week. Can't wait to hear what you all have to say about this one! I have a beauty consultation with a couple girls on Saturday and spending quality time with my family on Sunday. Have I mentioned how great it is to be back in the US? 

Oh, and I'm officially booked for Montreal in two weeks! Any tips for must-see places? I've heard it's absolutely gorgeous.

{more} color inspiration

Does anyone else feel like this has been the busiest week ever? So fun and gratifying to accomplish a lot, but I'm exhausted. As I find myself working more and more, I've been trying to focus on surrounding myself with lots of creativity and inspiration. A few weeks ago, I shared some color inspiration for summer. Well I noticed I've been really drawn to these two color combos as well. Coral and mint is one thing, but orange and mint...oh yeah! And seriously does anything say fresh, yummy summer better than rose & sunshine yellow? I think not. What color are your loving at the moment? at a cute little cafe called Spoons at the top of the mountain.

I'm off to celebrate my birthday weekend with a cruise to Cyprus! It's just for 2 days but I'll be with 4 of my closest girlfriends and I'm so excited!  Laying by the pool, exploring the city of Larnaca, drinking Starbucks!  Couldn't think of a better way to start my 30s!  Have a great weekend, everyone! xx

my weekend: the big & small of it.

Happy Monday Morning, everyone! My weekend was definitely full of big moments and little fun details.  I told you all I was going to be working on my blog.  And work I did!  You can expect some exciting changes to come in the next few weeks!  I'm really looking forward it, Timbuk2 (had to Google that one) said it best:  the future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!  Other than that, I did lots of little things (finally unpacking, watching a movie, shopping with a girlfriend)...they were really quite wonderful.  How was your weekend?

TGIT!

Thank God It's Thursday!  But I miss my Sundays!  Let me explain: here in the Middle East, the weekend starts on Friday and lasts through Saturday night.  Before I would spend my Sundays sleeping in, standing in line at my favorite brunch spot, eating delicious food, and cruising around town...things are a little different now, my Sunday mornings involve waking up at 7 am, getting dressed, and going to work.  I never imagined that it would feel so different, after all what does it matter as long as we're off for 2 days and then go back to work.  But, I'm so attached to my Sunday mornings!  I miss them! 

This weekend, I'm hoping to catch a movie, go to brunch on Saturday and then sit in the local coffee shop to work on this blog.  (The design is coming along, it's just a bit of a slow process.  Thanks for putting up with my simple style for now!)  I love sitting with a creamy cup of hazelnut coffee, my laptop, my iPhone, a few magazines...just watching the world go by, oh and doing some work!  What are your plans for the weekend?
