LOOKBOOK | LATELY VIA IG

Hey there friends! Just wanted to share a few of my favorite #ootd via my Instagram feed. It's been freezing for two months straight and here in the South, that's just unacceptable. 

I'm happy to report, the sun has returned in full force and we're back in the 60s. HOORAY!

While you can't really tell from these photos, my personal style has truly evolved in the past year or so to very clean and simple pieces. I'm drawn to basic and neutral colors with a pop of pizazz (hello, snakeskin pants) or tons of accessories. 

As I've been focusing on huge projects in the past year (ahem, a salon) I feel that I've really neglected this blog of mine. That was never my intention because this fun little space got me started in this big ol' world of social media, which has lead to so many amazing things. So, I'm circling back to my roots ;) and making it a priority to devote more time and loving to this pretty little place.

{lookbook} American Chevron

Confession: I've been wearing red, white and blue all week.  I love the 4th of July!  I was so excited when I found this chevron print dress but then my mom bursted my patriotic bubble by informing me that it's a little more like orange.  Well either way, I still love it!  The dress is from a little boutique in our little town, but the necklace is from my boutique.   It's called Chloe

Hope you all are having a fabulous day celebrating America!  Today is my dad's birthday and my parents' anniversary so as you're reading this I'm in a boat, on the lake, surrounded by my favorites!

{lookbook} pink pants

I love these pink pants! There's not much more to be said.  Must admit, I was a bit self-conscious when I wore this outfit last week, prancing around town, running errands for the bachelorette party.  They always put a little kick in my step and make me feel like I'm transported from my little Oklahoma town to the streets of Paris.  But I've said it before, I think I may be a bit much for the locals here in my hometown! ;)

The styling was kept simple, just a sheer BCBG top with lace trim and black patent Michael Kors wedges. I clipped a jeweled flower pin to my shirt and threw on my staple accessories: pearls, gold chain + monogram necklace.

This outfit was really just a  hodge podge of my favorite things. 

I wanted to wear everything so I piled it all on!

I think it worked, no?

Even though it's officially Spring, it's still a bit on the cool side over here

I wore this last week before my big trip to Chicago! (pictures are coming next week, I promise...)

I felt a bit country with the tied up denim shirt, but it was kinda fun too!

I'm keeping with the spirit of showing my everyday outfits, I like this much better!

It's almost St. Patrick's Day! 

So it was only fitting to wear my vintage green blazer yesterday

I wanted it to be the star so I chose to keep it pretty simple...white tee, boyfriend jeans, 

oh and leopard wedges and a few necklaces.

You know, just the usual ;)

I love looking at glossy fashion blogs. Love them. 

The outfits these ladies put together are simply gorgeous.

But do you ever wonder what they wear on a daily basis?

There's no way they are prancing around all day in 5 inch heels and tweed Chanel blazers. 

Well, maybe they are. But I'm certainly not.

So in the spirit of authenticity, this is what I actually wore yesterday.

Flats and all. 

I don't think I've ever worn this much color in my life, let alone all in one outfit.

orange, turquoise and purple...oh my.

It seemed easy enough, pair pink and red for a little Valentine's Day outfit love.

Pink is my favorite color so I thought I would find plenty of options in my closet.

(I'm not a huge fan of red but I knew I had some accessories)

So I started searching....and searching...and the only pink items I found were 

this old tshirt from the Gap and a faux pashmina scarf I got from a bazaar in Turkey.

What?!

I turned to my red + pink outfit from Friday's Fancies last week for inspiration. 

I pulled out my favorite Forever 21 striped blazer and got to styling. 
Pearls and a popped collar...really makes everything better.

{lookbook} vintage plaid blazer

It all started a few weeks ago. I was cleaning out years worth of my old clothes from my parents house when I came across a Leslie Fay plaid blazer circa 1990...at least. Vintage at its finest. My mom used to be (and still is really) quite the stylish young lady! It was so fun to hear her tell the story of my aunt purchasing it from a boutique in New York City during a weekend shopping trip.  I immediately knew I had to try to style it, so the Pinterest searching began. Just type 'plaid blazer' into the little search box and it's amazing what you'll find!  I wasn't sure if I could pull it off, but I wanted to at least try.

I settled on a look similar to Ms. Bee

She is such an inspiration!

Honestly, I'm not totally convinced  that the look is me.

Vintage chic? Christmasy? Stylish? Too old? 
Not sure...

I felt a bit funny wearing it.
I think one must be confident in her fashion choices, and I just wasn't feeling this.


But! It was still so fun to try to recreate Bee's look!
That girl has style.

{lookbook} wild horses

I'm back at the barn! At least this time my outfit is a bit more fitting...horses and all.

I know I'm a little late to the game, but I've been coveting the Marc Jacobs Pantera Blouse forever. Coveting.

I wasn't so interested in the price tag though, especially since I couldn't even imagine ever wearing it. 

But, I was shopping online a few months ago and thrilled to find this lovely little blouse* at F21.

It's been sitting in my closet because it's so out of the norm of what I usually wear.  But I love it so I finally decided to give it a try! And are you kidding me with those rose gold BCBG shoes?!  I just recently got them and the weather was beautiful this weekend, so it was perfect timing to bust them out.

I was in Austin this past weekend, catching up with old friends and making new ones.

It was fabulous.  So much so that I stayed an extra day.

No big surprise...my outfits consisted of stripes and leopard.

With a touch of black sequins. How amazing is the back of that cardigan!

Jewelry was kept pretty simple....just a few chains, pearls and of course my monogram necklace! 
Oh and the obligatory arm candy.

I had high hopes for this outfit.  And then I woke up yesterday and Siri told me it's 36 degrees outside.  My hopes went right out the window with the Oklahoma wind.  And since I left my tolerance for cold weather on the shores of the Mediterranean when I moved, I ended up with this sweater, high wool socks and a blazer.  Nothing too exciting, but it let me look pulled-together enough for yet another business meeting.  At least I had a pop of color with my red necklace!
