I may be way off here, but I'm starting to think that as Instagram and Facebook gain more and more popularity, blogging has begun its decline. What do y'all think? We're such a mobile society, always on the go. It's so much easier to interact and engage through platforms with apps. Who has time to sit and scroll/read through blogs anymore? In fact, I may take it a step further to say that even Facebook is on the way out and Instagram reigns supreme. People have full-on conversations, make new friends, exchange information and get their daily dose of pretty...all from that little app. It's definitely the first one I click on when sitting in a waiting room! Although there are advantages, blogging offers a richer experience complete with as many full size pictures and words that you want. There's only so much you can fit into that little square on Instagram. To me it just seems more instant and engaging to put up a picture on Instagram. I don't have to invest as much coming up with the content for a post, I can do several Instagrams pictures a day and the gratification is instantaneous. I love blogging, but sometimes it feels too far removed. I even have an editorial calendar, I know what I'm going to post days (sometimes weeks) in advance. I'll be honest, this might all be sparked by the fact that I've been feeling a bit burnt out with blogging lately. My life has just been so busy that I haven't had a chance to really create the content that I want and know you all deserve to see! So maybe that's why I'm loving Instagram so much, I get to create something pretty for my friends and followers and it's not so high pressure!
I'd love love to hear your opinion on this....is blogging a dead or dying art form?

I know where you're coming from...if you don't have the time, blogging can become a huge obstacle. Pinterest is also creating an outlet for people to express themselves...what more do you have to say about a picture in your blog if it's already pinned? :) That's why I think blogging may move back to becoming more of a journal experience and not about, I like this or that...and you have to have a lot of time for those posts. Should be interesting to see it all evolve!
I hope not- I'm just getting started!

I hope not! But I'll agree 100% that instagram has completely taken over FB in many, many ways. Pinterest + intstagram have long been my first go-to's each day prior to FB!

I've been feeling a little burnt out too -- it's weird to think that I won't have my blog forever. I think eventually Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook will take over any blogging, but for not I still enjoy reading and looking through blogs.
I agree to some extent. I think the way people consume content is definitely changing. It's almost like we are back-pedaling a little towards the newspaper model where you just read what's on the page and "like" it and there's not as much interaction as there was say- 18 months ago. BUT- I think that good content will always reign supreme even if the media it's presented on is changing. And blogging has opened up the door for lots of different (and really some really high-quality) voices to emerge, so I do not think blogging is going anywhere just yet. Great post Mae!
Well I hope it is not dying, I just started a year ago! But yes...there are so many way to keep up now with our "friends". I check FB in the morning, read blogs home in the evening, and check instagram in bed...I have a shedule LOL
To some extent I think Yes but then again there is something that I still love about blogs.I feel there is a more personal connection with blogs since you can get the back story or more details about a picture, where instagram, fb, and pinterest are just little snippets or comments.
PS- I also think that blog commenting historically slows down a lot in the summer when people are vacationing and spending more time outside rather than parked in front of their computers inside all day.
Hope not!! I Loooove blogging, maybe is because of the fact I'm not on instagram? I'm not very active on facebook either, but got to say that blogging is still my favorite. I love putting my posts together and I love reading my favorite blogs ;)
I agree it seems like people spend so much time IG'ing (I'm one of them!) but I think a lot of bloggers use it mostly so they can have pictures to post.
There has been talk for several months now about blogging declining - I hope it's not true!
Cute blog!!!

It's funny you say that, I was thinking hte same thing today. I interact with so many bloggers on instagram, and I realized I hadn't been to their blogs in ages. For shame...that is why I'm finally here. That and I can't get your site to work on my ipad.
Hope you're having a fabulous day!!
You bring up a lot of really great points. I think instagram is a great way to hook people on your content and that they will eventually make their way to the actual blog. Blogs just offer so much more in the way of editorial content etc. I'm a new follower by the way!

I hope blogging isn't dead! Reading blogs is pretty much the only thing I do on the internet, apart from writing posts of my own. I've never used instagram or twitter or any of those things (except facebook, to keep in touch with friends), so if that's what blogging is transitioning to...well, maybe I won't be spending so much time on the computer :) (Which would be a good thing!)
