It all started a few weeks ago. I was cleaning out years worth of my old clothes from my parents house when I came across a Leslie Fay plaid blazer circa 1990...at least. Vintage at its finest. My mom used to be (and still is really) quite the stylish young lady! It was so fun to hear her tell the story of my aunt purchasing it from a boutique in New York City during a weekend shopping trip. I immediately knew I had to try to style it, so the Pinterest searching began. Just type 'plaid blazer' into the little search box and it's amazing what you'll find! I wasn't sure if I could pull it off, but I wanted to at least try.
I settled on a look similar to Ms. Bee
She is such an inspiration!
{I have no idea why I look so angry. It was a good day!} |
What do you all think?
Honestly, I'm not totally convinced that the look is me.
Vintage chic? Christmasy? Stylish? Too old?
Not sure...
Not sure...
I felt a bit funny wearing it.
I think one must be confident in her fashion choices, and I just wasn't feeling this.
But! It was still so fun to try to recreate Bee's look!
That girl has style.

My favorite girls Law of Fashion & Marionberry Style are wearing plaid today too!
Make sure to pop by and check out their looks!
until next time,

I just love it! Anything preppy in my book is amazing.
oh girl, you do NOT look funny or old lady-ish. I think you look super chic.
I think you look great. Very chic. I love BEE's style. You did a great interpretation! I think it would also look amazing with red jeans or just blue jeans.
Love, love, LOVE it!! You absolutely pull it off! It's perfect with the bright skirt too!! SO adorable! And I love that it has such a great story to it too!

You look fabulous! totally channeled Bee's look. And I am a horrible person. I have been so busy, I totally forgot to link up with you guys. :(
Next challenge!
i think you did great... i loveee that skirt! but maybe try a different color cardigan or blazer if you didnt feel good in it... i think it totally works, though.
Ok, I'm older than you and I had that jacket at one time! Dang, I wish I had kept ALL the clothes of years past! Very modern with the chambray peaking out. It works, but if you don't feel it.....
Mae! You look amazing as always! I love how eclectic this style is and it works so well with your coloring...
Great link-up idea friend!

I think that the skirt is too much... what about an iteration of riding trousers?
What a great story! You look great - love that blazer.

Hello, i am new to your blog. That vintage plaid blazer is amazeballs! I am a sucker for plaid. How fun to even have a story behind it. Your mom sounds like so much fun! should do a guest post (again I am new...so sorry if she already has!)
I love it Mae! The chambray dresses it down, and the pop of color in your skirt is very now. Keeper!
