I'm not a lipstick girl. At all. (Save a short little stint in the 90s when I wore dark brown liner and filled in my lips with light shimmery gold, but we don't really need to discuss that) Now, give me a lipgloss and that I know how to do. In fact, I'm borderline obsessed with my gloss. But there's something about the richness of lipstick that seems perfect for Fall. I've decided that this is the season for me to learn how to wear it.
So what's your M.O.
Lipstick, Lipgloss or Chapstick?
until tomorrow lovies,
xx
Ohh! One more thing. I have a super exciting
announcement at the end of the week.
You're going to love this!

My lips are huge so I feel like any lipstick can be seen for about 1 million miles so I usually pass, but I love gloss and lip balm!! Gotta stay moisturized!

Mae! Yes! I am a huge lipgloss/balm kinda girl, but lately have been experimenting with lipstick. I LOVE the richness, sometimes I just don't know if I pull it off. I think it is much more about the confidence of wearing it....
Ok first of all I TOTALLY remember the dark brown liner filled in with a light shimmery gloss look!! I've never been a lipstick girl either, though I would love to be more adventurous about it. My favorite lip product was always this tinted chapstick by Neutrogena until they stopped making it and I haven't found anything I like quite as much since!
I'm such a gloss girl too, but I discovered the best combo last summer: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle lipstick under their glossimer in pink. Gorgeous!!
I'm definitely a gloss girl too! I'm terrible about not putting anything on for work but lately I've really wanted to find some lipstick for every day wear.
Occasionally lipstick but I'm a stain and gloss girl mainly. Always in search of the perfect color!
Totally a gloss girl but...
I buy tons of lipsticks but can't seem to bring myself to wear them. I'll put them on, wipe them off and then put on my gloss. :)
I'm a lipstick girl :) I don't do much other makeup.
Thanks for leaving me a comment - following :) and would love to meet up when you move back to Chicago. I don't know too many peeps here so meeting new fashionable people would be great!
Red Soles and Red Wine
Ha! I love that I did a post on nude lips this week (which is pretty much a way to make your lips disappear) and you're doing a post on adding serious color with a lipstick! You're so much more bold than I am...and I love it :-)

Mae, I think you should try the "Night Out Dancing" color but in a matte version!! By the way, I loved your story (in your About page)...:)
I think lipstick can really add a bold, dramatic edge to just about any day look. I love the orange hued color that Olivia Wilde is wearing. You could always try a simple nude or pink color and go from there!

These are great shades! It took a little patience for me to find my perfect fall shade (red), but now, I love it!

I am not a lipstick girl either!! But for fall I see so many beautiful plum, wine and red shades that it makes we want to start! This is a great post:) I especially love the "lipstick for any occasion" chart
Choosing a lipstick is definitely easiest if you a) have a professional help you sift through all the brands/shades/finishes or b) have a lot of time and are in a store with many, many, many samples.
If you go with a rich color, just wear chapstick underneath so your lips don't get crackly! Interestingly, Sarah Palin wore lipliner under chapstick for most of her vice presidential campaign, but it read like lipstick, so that may be a more comfortable option for most.
